Glass Curtain Wall with Opaque Spandrel Glass Facade to Hide Floor Slab, Wall, Ceiling and Electrical Component in the Building
The spandrel glass is heat treated ( tempered) to resist high high thermal stress. To make the glass opaque or translucent, the glass will have ceramic frit process with cusomized color as a decorative element to match the surrounding window wall and stone facade cladding. The ceramic enamel frit is applied onto the surface of glass and is available with wide range of colors as per the demand of achitect or designer. The ceramic frit paint will create a permanent coating with clear or tinted glass substrates, and the high performance ceramic coating can help to reduce glare and decrease solar transmission. It is very durable and can resist scratching, peeling, fading, chemical attacks and chipping etc.
As a form of vertical building enclosure, aluminum glass curtain wall supports no load and environmental forces except its own weight. Vertical mullions and horizontal transoms are anchored and installed to the building column or floor slabs. The cut to size glass panel is then fixed on the grid work mechanically with pressure plate and decorative cover cap. For aluminum glass curtain wall with stick system, most of works can be done in jobsite.
Type of aluminum glass curtain wall can be categorized into stick system and unitized system. The stick system can be divided into fullly capped system and structural silicone glazing (SSG) system. And the unitized system can be divided into full unitized system and semi unitized system.
